Lake Jackson Largemouth Bass Fishing Report
March 2003
March 3, 2003
Water temperature: 52°F
The lake is still stained from the recent rains and holding about 52 degrees. The spots are feeding on rocky points down the lake in 4-8 foot of water and are eating Rebel deep wee Rs in crawfish patterns. In heavier stained waters firetiger is working better. Some big largemouths are mixed in the groups and are being caught on heavy 3/4 oz brown/black jigs with a Zoom crosscraw as a chunk. Work the jig like you would a carolina rig and expect the bite to be soft.
March 21, 2003
Water temperature: 54-56°F
The waters coming down the rivers is heavily stained. Water temperatures have been holding in the mid 50's this week.
Stay in Tussahaw creek the next week and work short rocky points with Rat-l-traps in black/chrome or Bandit 200 series crankbaits. Crawfish colors have been working for the Bandit plug. Down near the dam rocky points are holding some good spots. Work them with 1/2oz carolina rigged Zoom 4 inch lizards in green pumpkin color. Adding some chartruse dye to the tail will really turn the spots on and make them bite.
