Water temperature: 70-76°F
Bass fishing is improving. Water temperatures are on the way down. Right now the water is clear over most of the main lake and light stained up the feeder creeks and rivers. The water temperatures range from the low 70's to the mid 70's all over the lake. The morning top water bite is now working again. Fish can be caught on spooks, flukes, and buzzbaits. Look at the mouths of major coves in the mid lake area for this topwater morning bite. Look for shad on the surface running from your bait when retrieved, then you know that you are in the right area. After you find yourself putting on the sunglasses, work any shallow wood structure halfway into the major creeks. The bass are feeding on shad that are moving into these areas. Work docks, stumps, and blowdowns with Texas rigged worms in redbug, junebug and black emrald colors. Also an all white jig with a pearl Zoom swiming mchunck is starting to catch some dock fish. Some days a Strike King tube on a light Texas rig will work best. Try a green pumpkin or watermelon tube.
