Water temperature: 81-83°F
The main lake is fairly clear. Muddy water will be on its way down the rivers, due to recent heavy rains.
Bass fishing is good. Fishing can be fast and furious at daybreak on just about any seawall in the midlake area. Small topwater baits have been working well, especially the mid-sized Pop-R. Cast the bait right next to the wall and allow it to settle before popping it slowly back to the boat. Most bites are coming in the pause. Later in the day you will need to move out on the main lake points with a carolina rig. Look for the fish in 8-12 foot of water. Good colors have been pumpkin seed, watermelon, and junebug. Trick worms and lizards have been the best baits for the carolina rig. Point with scattered brush are producing much better than sand/clay points. There have been some largemouths feeding along with the many schools of hybrids busting shad all over the lake in the afternoons. The key is to get a bait below the hybrids. A big DD22 will work well in this situation.
