Water temperature: 60-65°F
The water temperature is 60-65 degrees and going up daily. The main lake is stained but fishable, the feeder creeks are fairly clear.
The fishing this week has been really good for a number of fish. Lots of bass are being caught shallow on wood and rock. Light carolina rigs with lizards are catching fish. Most seem to be male/buck bass that are fanning beds. These fish are aggressive and will kill the lizards in junebug, redbug, and black. Work the bait right off the bank out to about 5 foot of water. Not many fish are much deeper than that. Lots of big females are on bed however, they can't be seen due to water clarity. Work an texas rigged all white big Zoom brush hog in potential spots along the seawalls and hope to catch one. Late in the day fish are starting to eat some topwater plugs like pop-rs and tiny torpedos.

Water temperature: 68-72°F
The water temperature is 68-72 degrees and light stained from the mid lake area toward the dam, as muddy water moves down the lake. Actually the clearer water this week has been in Sugar creek, Lick creek and the Apalache river.
Bass are either sitting on beds or just coming off beds all over the lake. They are also eating most anything. The morning bite has been excellent on seawalls and rip rap as the bass are feeding on spawning shad in these areas. The first few hours of daylight are best. Try throwing a #5 shad rap, pop-r, buzzbait, or fluke. You will also catch some good hybrids in the mix. The action can be fast and will end just as quick when the sun hits the water. Later in the day fish are eating spinnerbaits, shad raps, and carolina rigged zoom pumpkin seed lizards. Fish these baits in the same areas you caught fish early in the day. Only work the areas out deeper and off the banks. The best depth is the 6-10 foot range once the sun gets high.
